Getting Started

It's a bank account built with you in mind. It should arrive approximately 7 to 10 business days after you place your order. If you do not receive your account materials within 10 business days, call Customer Service at 800-268-4739.

Adding Money

Choose from several ways to add money:

  • Direct Deposit. Direct Deposit is a convenient way to add your paycheck, unemployment and other government benefits to your account. Plus you'll get paid up to 2 days earlier!2
  • While Shopping. Add funds at no cost4 by visiting the H‑E‑B Customer Service Center or checkout. Or add funds at over 130,000 Netspend retail locations.⁵ Our Retail locator helps you find locations nearest to you.
  • Tax Refund. You may electronically direct deposit your tax refund to your account.

We want to make enrolling in Direct Deposit as painless as possible, regardless of where the deposit is coming from.

  • Paychecks. All or part of your paycheck can be direct deposited to your Account. You will need to provide your employer a bank routing number (sometimes referred to as the 'ABA Routing Number') and your account number.
  • Government Benefits. Your government benefits, including Social Security, SSI, SSDI, or VA compensation, can be direct deposited. Check your benefit provider's site for enrollment instructions. Existing accountholders can log in to the Online Account Center to learn more.
  • Tax Refunds. Get your Federal and State tax refunds faster⁷ than a paper check in the mail. Just have them electronically deposited directly into your H‑E‑B Debit Account.
We give you access to your paycheck or government benefits up to 2 days earlier2 than your usual payday. Please note, your account must be active and in good standing in order for electronic direct deposits to be credited to your account.
When you have your tax refund directly deposited to your account, you don't have to wait for a paper check. Bring your Routing Number and Account Number to your tax preparer, or if you're filling out your own taxes, indicate them in the designated sections.

Using Your Account

Your H‑E‑B Debit card can be used everywhere Debit Mastercard is accepted – online, in stores, and over the phone.

To check your balance,

  • Log in to your Online Account Center, where you can see your balance, your deposits and transaction history.
  • Sign up for Anytime Alerts to receive a text message8 including your account balance, after every transaction.
  • Call the number on the back of your card and obtain your balance through the telephone automated service.
Contact Customer Service via our toll-free number listed on the back of your card or file an online dispute by logging in to your Online Account Center.
Yes. You can transfer money to another account online for no fee.6
No. Loans or payday advance loans are not available from H‑E‑B Debit Account. However, you can deposit loan proceeds from other companies into your H‑E‑B Debit Account.
You should immediately contact Customer Service at 800-268-4739. Or, you can log in to your Online Account Center to report your card lost or stolen.
